How do AN fittings install on braided hose?

I have never actually seen AN fittings in person and can't very well see how the fittings seal on the hose and then onto themselves. If anybody can describe this to me, that would be helpful.

Second, what is the difference between a flared end and an inverted flared end fitting?

Sorry if this is a newbie question but i need to run a new brake line for part of my RB swap.
