How different is the 2003-2004 m45 A/V in comparison with 2003-2004 Q45

I was just wondering because if the M A/V is the same as Q it might be possible to integrate the reverse camera from the Q into the M system.

That is an excellent idea. The 2003-2004 M shares the same nav screen secondary controls with the Q. This might be doable.ML

You know until I read this thread and looked into this I thought that the Y34 had an optional rear view monitor. Huh You learn something new every day. Thanks guys.

Ok so here is the circuit diagram and terminal values of the signal you will need to wire up to get it to work with your existing systems. Oh yeah and all the connectors are different and the control units pin outs are different.



So the long and short of is it's not impossible if you have the parts and countless hours. Sorry for the image heavy thread jacking.

I don't have that on mine, so I think I am out of luck with the reverse camera possibility ...

I am going to start scouring the local junkyards for a Q.

One more question though, would I have to do some sort of software upgrade to what ever operating system the Q A/V system runs on to get the camera to work.

I have seen something like this done, i.e. the color mod on Cake Daddy's screen to gave it the Q colors instead of the standard screen colors on the M. If I remember correctly he had it done by a tech at the dealership.

The core of the systems seems very similar, I just hope that I am not pissing in the wind on this one. I might just wait and patch in a head unit in the glove box similar to this one from clarion,

It has the reverse camera, DVD player, blue tooth, and ipod integration, and a ish ton of other goodies that would make the system pop a little more.

I wish it was as easy as swapping a few CUs and some peripherals. However, the harness and TCM are all different too. It can be done but you might want to look into something like a Scoche system with the camera mounted by the tag bracket and a piggy back unit.
