So my 3rd anniversary is coming up and I was just reminiscing our engagement story with the woman and decided to hear how everyone else did it. We don't get enough credit as a gender for being creative when it comes to being romantic saps. So here's our story.

My lady and I went to separate high schools and her brother played in my old band our senior year, that's how met. She had a big crush on me and asked me to escort her to her prom at this hotel in downtown LA. Naturally I agreed and we had an amazing time. We ended up becoming great friends but then lost touch for about 4 years. We ran into each other at a concert I was throwing and started dating shortly after. Coincidentally our "dating" anniversary fell on the same day we went to prom. I asked her dad's permission, took out a student loan and bought her an unbelievable ring.

So on our prom and dating anniversary I took her back to the hotel which had changed names but was still the same hotel. I told her we were going to a Capital Records event that was honoring a band I used to manage. We valet the car and walk towards the ballroom. She's starting to remember prom and thinks something's fishy until she see's the marque that says "Capital Records Welcomes (rather not mention band name)." We make it in the door and there is a velvet rope and a guy waiting to escort us onto the dance floor where there is a table for 2 setup with her favorite flowers, gerber daisies.

So at this point it's obvious something is up but since it's our anniversary it could just be a really ambitious dinner. I try my best to play it off like that and I think I succeeded. We indulge in some amazing food and desert time is quickly approaching. At exactly 8:00 I excuse myself to the restroom and meet the maître d’ and give him the ring. I head back into the ball room and we finish dinner. 10 minutes later 4 petit deserts are bought out on a silver platter, a chocolate ganache pyramid, fruit tart, a chocolate box and one other thing I can't remember. We start to attack everything and leave the chocolate box for last. All of the sudden the song she wants for our first dance starts to play and I ask her to open the box. Viola it's the ring, I get down on one knee and she says yes.

It was one of the best days of my life which took lots of planning and coordination. The whole evening cost me about $400 which was well worth it. The staff at the Millennium Biltmore was unbelievable and seemed just as excited as I was, they hooked it up big time. So let's hear your story and prove to the 3 females on NICO that we can be creative.

That's a fun story. Mine was a bit unusual. My then GF and I were enroute to a rare family reunion at my parents house. We were already living together. I had decided enroute in the car that it might be better for her to meet my motley crew of a family if she had an official status. So I proposed to her in my 1976 Buick Skyhawk on the NJ Turnpike between exits 2 and 3 at about 65 mph. The dang car did not have cruise control, but I was still able to get on one knee (left foot was on the accelerator, left hand on the steering wheel) and I proposed. I asked her while in the middle lane, and she said yes before I drifted onto the shoulder. Fortunately there was no traffic at the time. True story, and we're still together.

both of those stories are unique in their own way and reflect the personalities of the proposer, which is most important.

Just looked you up on FB (insert stalker music) and I don't think you'll have any issues with meeting a dude that's got a plan, plus you've got plenty of time. It's all about making good decisions when you get older, right now make lots of bad decisions when it comes to guys, it's part of life.

WIN!

If it's real. . .

If she still loved him after that she's a keeper for sure.

Good stories, guys!

I'm such a sap for a wedding/proposal story. A good friend of mine had a photographer hiding in the bushes. Loved the idea.

I wanna hear Bex and Greg's story!

Carly and I got engaged while riding on a historical train ride. I proposed to her while en route. Sorry, that's the short version.

Heres mine (it just happened on the 12th of this month too!)

So my girl and i have made it a thing to go to disney land on our birthdays (they are 13 days apart) So last year we went on her b-day, this year we went on mine.

So i picked out a ring about 2 weeks in advance and hat it all planned out to pop the question at disney land. For weeks i had to throw her off that any thing "special" was going to happen at disney, and that anything that i was up to was possibly for her b-day. We leave for the trip on thursday and i have the ring wrapped up in my pocket in a napkin because the box was way too huge. So for the next couple days i was constantly checking my pocket to make sure it was still there, the first night she picked up my pants and i about snatched them out of her hand for fear she was going to check the pockets like she does for all my pants.

The next day (my bday) was the day to do it, but it wasnt going to be until the evening when they had fireworks. So all day i am super nervous and checking my pocket all the time! It was getting cold so we went back to the hotel to get a jacket to return for the fireworks, and she was about to say we should just turn in for the night so i was super pushy about going back to see the fireworks haha. So the time comes, the fireworks are going off, my heart is beating so loud i thought she would hear it. I am waiting for the right moment (im also surrounded by a ton of people). I just had to push my self to go for it, i turned to her and said "This has been the best birthday ever, but you know what will make it even better? " and i got down on one knee and pulled out the ring and asked her to marry me and she immediately started crying and said yes!

Sorry for the long story but thanks for reading it!

Mine went so smoothly I was just waiting for something to go wrong and it never did.

I took her away for the weekend and she thought it was for our anniversary because we had been dating for 3 years.

Went north of here to a small upscale country Inn/resort.

Started the day out with a couples massage which was pretty damn sweet.

I rented the private dining room with our own waiter for an early dinner.

After dinner we went back to the room and changed into jeans to go horseback riding. The guide took us out to the highest peak on the property overlooking a small valley.

He said (this was pre arranged) he would give us some time alone and not to worry the horses would get us back.

So here we are all alone on this hill and just as the sun set, I pulled the ring out and took a knee.

After she accepted, I had pre-arranged to have a bottle of champagne under the only cherry blossom tree at the top of this hill and we toasted eachother and watched the sun go down.

Mushy yes... but perfectly unforgetable for her and I know she will remember every detail for the rest of her life

It was like a damn movie it went so perfect.

Absolutely nothing special about mine.. My woman and I had already been together for 5 or 6 years and I was planning on doing it for a while, so one day, when we were just relaxing around the house and getting along rather well, I asked her, and she said yes.

Needless to say, 2 years later she left me behind my back when I was out of town and got knocked up a few weeks later by some other douche. But on the bright side, I ended up with 2 new roommates from NICO, and have had a lot of fun since.

I asked her how much do I need to pay her to marry me? Shes still waiting for the money.

Truth...We went to dinner with some friends. As I was pulling the ring out of my pocket she shoved lettuce in my mouth. So, that kinda messed it up. To make things worse we got into a 5 car pile up that night on the way home. Good news...She said yes so 8 years together and 6 240's later were still married. Its been 5 great years

How did I pop the question? Well we were eating dinner one day and out the blue it occurred to me to ask, "Are you pregnant? You've been getting a little hefty."

Wait, that's not the question we're talking about? ...

I have never felt the urge to marry. I have been with my girlie over 7 years.

I bought her a ring and proposed in a not to exciting kinda pretty normal way and of course she was happy. Now that she lost the ring she has been kinda blah about planning wedding stuff so who knows if I'll ever get married.

I proposed at home but she was completely caught off guard.

I had a friend use the taco bell sauce packet on his wife that said will you marry me.
