Ive been looking around and cant really find what points is good to hoist your engine? Some say chain it around the intake manifold and around the exhaust manifold, then I read engine slingers. Its it safe to chain it around the intake manifold?

Where and how did you chain up your motors?

We ran mine through the exhaust and intake manifold runners on both the KA and the SR.

It's really easy, just use your common sense and even out the weight.I put squares around potentional spots you could use.

Yeah, I just pulled my Ka about half hour ago lol just wrapped it around the intake and exhaust manis, but I was also wondering what to put it on the sr because I just replaced the intake and exhaust gaskets and **** didn't want to risk holding it by those. When I swap it in this weekend I'll let you know what I decided to do.

ratchet straps around pretty much any part do a good job.

I had a shiny new powdercoated valvecover and a shiny new turbo mani and freshly painted exhaust manifold that I didn't want scratched up so I put a towel around them so the chain would not make contact and nothing was marked. Just look at where the chain will make contact.

Ive seen a few SR's that came with hooks that could be unbolted after. but yeah usually a good 500lb ratchet strap around the first intake runner and the last exhaust runner on the manifold will do the trick.

Your setup looks akward, you have to pick points on the corners of the motor opposite each other, plus once its on the hoist you really need some control over the thing to get the tail (trans) in.

step 1. pick 2-4 solid bolts to hoist from (one on each corner of the motor is best)

step 2. get some chain (big enough for the bolts to fit through, but not all the way through)

step 3. bolt the chain to the motor, and lift from the center.

You can still order the stock engine slingers for the SR from Nissan seen in the pic below red and green. Though they mount in places more suited for just lifting the engine, you can get an idea of where to put chains/cables.

Well I "tried" putting in my sr tonight (need correct engine mount) but anyway I hoisted the sr by the lower bracket under the intake manifold and the engine mount bracket on the exhaust side. Seemed to angle the engine good as I was able to pull the motor back out by myself and it seemed sturdy

NO! never, ever, ever lift from those points that were posted with squares around them..those bolts are 8mm bolts with a 10mm head...would you hold yourself up with an 8mm piece of steel? thats basically what you would be doing, the strength just isnt there.

you need to go atleast 1 inch long by 12 mm bolt

go with the studs into the head. or around the intake/exhaust runners.
