How did this happen

Hey guys i was just washing my car and i was cleaning the windshield and came across this rub strip. I just noticed it now wondering how this might of happened Is any thing getting damage from water getting in ? How can i fix this and where? I plan on stopping by nissan appericate the help thanks

Looks as though the entire trim will need to be replaced. You can attempt to use a waterproof superglue to reattach the ripped trim if the cost of replacing it isn't something you can afford at this time.

Funny, my car has the same thing happened on both sides of the window. the molding all the way back to the rear (over the roof) looks to be all one piece. Haven't gotten a price on them yet, but I have no leaks, so i'm not real worried about it.

I have an 08 Altima Coupe and I haven't seen that on my car yet, but I would rather have that problem than the one I have with the dash cracking all to hell and melting.

that's intense, you can always get one of those old school carpet dash covers...and some curb feelers
