I'm obviously not a car person. I got a warning on my 07 Altima saying that it needed maintenance at the exact mile on the odometer mile that my oil change sticker says I need a new oil change. My question is simple---how does it know this so accurately? Do the oil change people do something or does the alitma "know" it had its oil changed 3000 miles back? It's kinda creepy.

The computer is programmed to give you reminders at regular service intervals. Probably set to 3,750 miles.

I just set mine at 10,000 or something like that because I don't follow the "recommended" interval. If you go through the display on your dash, there's a maintanence schedule option where you can set the mileage that you want your car to remind you at.

Yeah just change the maintenance schedule to not alert you as often.
