I am starting to plan out my project car. My buddy and I are planning out my next project car. I am thinking about what motor to throw in there. We might go with an RB26 or a V8, Im not exactly sure yet. My question is, I would like RHD, I think it would be kind of cool, but I am also thinking about the cars resale value. The car will be done right, everything will be clean and look stock. But I am wondering if you guys think that there would be a lot of interest in a RHD 72-75' Z?

The resale value of a highly modified Z car would be hard to predict. Some cars can be worth a lot of money to the right person. Your target audience will be rather limited, and you'll have a hard time getting out of it what you put in. If you can do the work yourself and make an award winning car, then it's very possible to get your money back. But if you have to pay someone else to do the work, you'll never see that money again.

Build a car for you and enjoy it. In time, it's possible to find someone who's willing to pay. NEVER build a car just to sell.

I think Z cars, more than any other, are worth the proverbial "what someone will pay for them", that is, on one day a modded (or stock) Z won't sell for what you put into it, on another it can get up to $30k or so...

I attribute this in the diaspora of Z enthusiasts, as it's a car with equal but different appeal to many groups of cardom, all with different budgets

IMO if you want to invest or make money, look into the stock market or currencies, not cars. Cars aren't real "investments", so just do whatever you want...

EXCEPT put a V8 in the poor thing

That said I think an S30 RHD would be cooler than.

there are a fair number of RHD S30's in the states, seems a lot of military personel shippied them back back int he day, and from what Ive seen they tend to sell lower and be less desirable than the RHD counterpart, it also makes passing on the left a PITA (I had a bud with an imported civic) even then all origional would be the only way to retain any value of a RHD S30

these cars are not what one might call a great investment, the earliest cars in origional condition will bring more money than modified later cars, start looking for low production 70 models, the first 500 or so cars hold their value extremely well, the early 71 are quite desirable as well, I've seen low production number low origional miles cars sell for $10-20k, the 72-78 models are far less sought after, as for swapped cars, clean V8 cars can be had for $5-10k, certainly there are some exception to beoth ends of the scale but most clean swapped cars fetch in htat area, the RB cars are much less common and tend to sell for $10-15k, and even more rare the SR powered cars tend to be in the $6-8k range, hardly worth the investment in most cases, build the car you want, these things do not make great investments, especially when modified

and I think RHD is kinda a ricer thing, unless it's an all origiona imported RHD model, it'll hurt the value

Many talk about RHD Z's but I have yet to see any fully go through with their ideas.

Last I saw was a conversion by Vilindi Motorsports in Southern California.

No investment potential at the moment.

Put in a corvette Ls1 and renforce the frame to about 800hp and have the engine procharge with 15psi aof boost lol in the end you will have a bad *** car but it will cost you. thats what Im doin to my Z if you plan on sellin it and plan on doin this much work dont plan on getting what your asking for some time. Hell the corvette engine and prochager unit are 6k for me W/mountings and Custum drive shaft The frame renforcement is gonna cost me 1.5k and that not includding the roll cage im gonna have put in(lol t-tops are fun but the hurt you in the end).
