How come nobody wants to help me with my ka24de?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

I'm trying to figure out where and what to get for a good KA24DET base. I want to install the motor in place of my sohc then turbo it later on. Sombody said i should get everything for the base motor off of car-parts.com, but what should i look for to get a good base motor? Any tips or tricks?

So all your trying to do is put a twin cam in place of your single?

Why not just get the whole swap, you wont need to buy anything extra and you can pick up a KA for dirt cheap. The duel cam will put out in the neighborhood of 155 Hp.

Your best bet for finding an engine is to get one localy off a junked 240. Or you could go for one off ebay from a reputable seller, you could probably get one to your door for about 500-600.

You want to look for a motor right around 100k miles, and its realy all about the seller. If you go with someone who has a rep you will pay more money, but the chances of you getting a junker are way less.

Im not sure what else you need to know, your questions are kinda vuage.

well i figured the motor is going to come with most of what i need to swap it in, i just want to upgrade some of the parts before she goes in, ie. clutch, oil pump, electric fans, maybe bearing surfaces. I like the KA24DE, hell i loved my KA24E, she had lots of fun torque. lol

If there are any shops in your area doing SR swaps... You may want to approach them about buying one of the motors left over from their swaps... given that they have a good supply and need to get them off their hands.

Oh yeah and the dual cam is full of torque as well.

Yeah, i'll call around about that. As for the torque, that's why i'm going ka24det, so many reasons it's better then the sr20, and i'll still be able to find parts in another 5 years for it.

i like it for the same reason i can go to an auto parts store to get my stock parts .and extra parts p/p your head and new cams youl lower your compression down by doing so i really dont know by how much but thats one start for turbo ,i got my ka24de from asap with six minth warrenty for 1191.00 plus shipping but my shipping was paid for by them cause it took to long after i ordered it to get it shipped out 55,000 miles on it . from a 94 240 im not complain im in missery so not alot of extra KAs around here P.S its a long block heres some piks of it when i got it http://i173.photobucket.com/al...3.jpgh ... al...2.jpg

they replace valve cover gasket ,front main seal, rear main seal , don't know about the timing but im not having any problems so im pretty satisfied the only problem im having is i put to much oil in and i have a slow pan gasket leak so i would change it when you get it plus you can check out the crank parts at that time if you want to ...

turbo240.com just follow the link to the shop. I'm pretty sure they are your best online shop to go to for getting a turbo ready KA

-as for getting the motor, I'd look in the classifieds. For the most part finding a low mileage DE isn't too hard (due to the SR swaps). So what will become of you Sohc?
