Ok so i recently bought a 1991 Nissan 240SX. I can only open the car from the driver side. It does not let me open my trunk or the passenger door. I would like to know if this is normal or i'll need my locks replaced?

When i insert the key it does not let me turn it. The only way for me to open the trunk is from the inside beside the drivers seat.

Any help is appreciated!. Thanks

The Nissan locks tend to corrode shut when they aren't used constantly. Spray some rust penetrant in there and let it sit overnight and see if the issue is resolved.

Check to see if the key that you were given is a Valet Key. I know in some cases, a Valet key will only work in the drivers door and the ignition. For security reasons the keys will not unlock the trunk, glove compartment, and in some cases the passenger door.

Hope this helps

The only difference between an valet key and a full key is the blank. Consult with your local locksmith and he should be able to tell you whether or not what you have is in fact a valet key. If it is, all he needs to do is duplicate the key onto a full keyblank and it should work all of the locks.

Hmm, another possibility is that the ignition and drivers door locks were replaced at some time and not recoded to match the other locks.
