Hello All,Owing to there not being very much discussed here lately, I figured this might be a good topic. When I purchased my M, I could have gotten a 06' 6MT G35 sedan brand new for the same price out the door. The M I purchased is a 2004 C.P.O with all options other than the chrome wheels and had 25,000 miles. It also included the Infiniti Elite warranty as well at that price. They only had one 2006 G35 left and it was the Serengeti Sand color and was the base sedan. For me, the color was a big downer. Also, I am way more partial to the coupe. But more than anything, the VK45 engine slayed me. I know the FM platform is stiffer and handles better, but, something about the M got me. Also, the interior quality seemed a cut above. Thoughts?Cheers,Mark

I was in the same boat. It was between a 2006 G35x and the M45 for me. When I broke down payments and what not the new G35 would have doubled my payment, and I was losing features. In mind, it was also difficult to justify that money for that car when I could pay $10,000 less for an Altima and basically get the same car in a format that's much better for Midwest winters. So I went with the M.

I was very close to buying a new 2007 G35x when I noticed a used 2006 M35 Sport on the lot. One drive was all it took to convince me. Sure the G35x was faster in a straight line, but the interior of the M really sealed the deal. They are both great cars and I would have been happy with either one, for slightly different reasons.

As you might see from my previous posts, back in fall of 2003, I had gone in to replace my 1995 Q45 with a G35. My wife and I saw the 2003 M45 sitting there, and we instantly changed our mind - took a test drive, but we were sold on the unique looks first.

I'm probably in the minority in this group. I went to the local Nissan dealer (Infiniti dealer is 2 hours away) to buy used G, but got in and realized it was too small to put my kids' car seats in the back! So, I drove a used M and loved it. I got my (different one) M35x on eBay, took the car seats out of my Explorer and put them in the M, and sold the truck. I haven't looked back.

Good question.

I would get a G as a loaner when I dropped off my old I30 for service and I loved the power and agility coming out of the I30 for a day.

...but over long trips and time, I could see becoming from the harsh ride, interior parts wearing from use, the power and agility would probably have made me piss off a LOT more people and I would have always wondered if I were happier in the M for nearly the same fuel mileage.

Plus, now that I have the M....all I see driving the G is chicks.

I was actually closer to getting a 2004 I35 than the G but again...I would have always wondered...

Hello,I know we have discussed what were other choices for people who have purchased an M. I love my car, but, was quite honestly perplexed as to which car to purchase. There is certainly something to be said for brand new. I suppose this is all the more salient considering there is probably not a person here who has not driven a G35 given the loaner car privledges at the dealer. I suppose mostly I wanted to get some conversation and debate other than oil consumption questions or wheel recommendations. Thanx to all who have replied.Cheers,M.L

Here are two of my earlier comments on comparisons ... not to the latest M or latest G, of course.
