Ok I swapped out manifold and turbo and did a lot of fab work but i couldn't get the turbo more than 1/2" away from my brake master cylinder. and the down pipe is like 1/4" or less from the rear brakes brake line. The turbo was hitting the MC before the fab work. So my ? is if I wrap the down pipe and turbine housing in thermal wrap and I put that reflective thermal tape on the MC do you think that it is still to close and will heat up the MC and the brake fluid I am at work know and I will post up a pic later if needed. All the wrap and tape I have is good to 2000 def F.

I personally have alot more space than that with my setup with it all wraped and the megan heat sheild, it works great. Also change your brake fluid to something newer and better, its not a fix but will help. What mods have you done to gain the clearance you do have? I've seen shaved turbo flanges for the turbo mount and exhaust flange, shimmed motor mounts, shifted k member, shimmed brake booster, custom brake lines, and the famous beat the crap out of the downpipe for clearance mod(My fav.).

ok I will try to post pics but the tilt angle of the turbo flange on the manifold was to steep and caused it to hit the MC so I had another T3 flange so I made a slight wedge about 3/8" to 0 out of 2"x3" tube welded that little wedge on the new flange and the one on the manifold to change the angle so now i didn't hit the MC. Then since i bought a new turbo the 5 bolt houseing flange didn't work on the new four bolt turbo so had to change that and route the down pipe as far away from the brake line as i could with out restricting flow weld the new 4 bolt flange go from the 2 1/2" outlet to 3" down pipe and rout a new waste gate in which i said ****it i will just dump it to the atmospere.

Oh I also had to re route one of the brake lines with a 90 deg elbo so I could get it closer to the MC and then come strait into it. It was a good time.I do enjoy fabricating parts It is what I do at work but I really just wanted it to work out Perfectly. Just once but that is never the case O well.

ok ill help you out but you owe me some beer and potentially drugs.

loosen the 4 bolts that hold the brake booster to the firewall, you have to do this from inside the foot area inside the car. the bolts will surround the brake rod going through the firewall to the booster.

once loosened, cut some washers and user them as shims on the passenger side bolts. you can also skew the booster a little too.

so with these two mods you should have enough room to not worry.

Here's a pic of mine. I just wrapped the beans out of the manifold. Then silicon coated it or whatever that stuff is that needs baked on. I can touch the manifold for a split second, as it's not really that hot even after a good run. It works for me, it should work for you. Here's a pic. Hope it helps.

Go to home dpeot or wherever and Spend $3 to get some roof flashing either aluminum or galvanized. Use it as a heat shield. They should cut you off 1-2ft off a roll for you.

That's why I dislike the SSAC top mounts for the KA. A friend of mine cut off the flange, grinded down the angle a to make it less aggressive, and tig welded a new T3 flange onto the area. He's been using it for about 8 months or so now.

Well I will have to see how it holds up I got the manifold to be tempory so i could get the car back on the road. It has turned out to be a little more work than i wanted, however the manfolds quality was better than expected, still sceptical though.

Do you guys think that it is to close to the MC? Do you think that the brake lins and MC and fluid will get to hot with all the thermo wrap? It has been wraped more since the picture was taken.

The best way is to try it and find out, just don't forget to downshift and hand brake to stop the car if you do have failure.
