How can you check for bad Tie Rod Ends? search turned up nothing.

Before I take my Nissan on its first road trip in god knows how long, (i bought her from where she sat for over a year untouched)

I know she has a clunk in the front passenger end. Its not the brakes, those are done, I plan on doing TC Rods cuz mine are just painful to look at. But I'm not sure if this will fix my problem.

It might be a ball joint which I'll check the next time i have her in the gf's garage, but how can I check if its a Tie Rod end?
