I accidently posted this in the technical section, but I think its better I put it here.

89 240sx, i get a clunking in the front right passenger corner when going over bumps. I'll be checking for a bad ball joint when i get her inside, but in advance i'd like to know what to try to check for a bad tie rod end.

thanks,

Get the wheel off the ground and see if the wheel has any play up and down and side to side. Check the tension rod bushings. If the tie rod is bad you will see play in it. Try moving the outer tie rod joint up and down. Make sure you isolate to correct part, its possible the noise is coming from the inner tie rod inside the steering rack boot.
