Hey I have two throttle body's one from a 1991 Q45 with TCS that had 137,000 miles on it (My 1991 Q45 Parts car) and another one from a 1994 Q45 with TCS that had 160,000 (If I remember correctly)

Now the one from the 1991 had the gaskets on the TB, Plenum, EGR and AAC but there was also red RTV holding it together as well, so there was the gasket and RTV in between the gasket and metal, looks horrible.

But from the 1994 Q45 there was no RTV just gaskets holding all of those together.

So can some one tell me the length of what the untouched screws would be?

I just want to confirm that neither screws have been touched with out finding out the hard way when I man up to do the plugs.

it shoudl be easy to tell if the paint marks dont line up or usually you can tell if the slots in the screw have been moved.

Obviously some shade tree mechanic removed and tried to reseal TB when he broke the TB gasket.

The FSM outlines a detailed proceedure to test and rest these screws by an expert who has an INFINITE amount of time and can charge the client for ever second of it.

Rule #1 of abusive owner: charge to punish to stop future fiddling and make sure they know it cost them hundreds extra to fix what they did.

NOTE to all posters:Cell phone pictures don't cut it.

I have learned my lesson, All I want to do though is know if this throttle body is good or bad.

As for the procedure, I am not an expert but I do have some time. Time I think is what you need more than skills, Sure with skills it will be done faster but with time you learn those skills.

OK I want to further make sure that my TB is good in order to keep as a clean spare.

Is the red part supposed to be touching the white part when the TB is closed?

I looked in the service manual and the screws have not been touched.

I also ran hot water (Sink) (120-130*F) through the Fast idle Cam. At first some black stuff came out then the water turned clear. But The Fast Idle Cam stopped holding the throttle plate open when the right temp was achieved.

What your looking for is to make sure no water (air) can get though the main throttle body after the car or in this case the FIC stops holding the TB open.

The factory made a line using white paint on the screws. If the line does not line up then the screws have been touched.
