This morning on the way to work, I got behind a new model Maxima. Nice looking car, gray metallic. The dealer logo was big and white and slapped on crooked! Not just "Becki is anal" crooked but real crooked and just in the middle of the whole back end.

:tisk:

If that had been my car, I would have called David and told him to meet me in the driveway with the blow-dryer. I can usually stop the dealer from putting it on in the first place. That person probably just didn't even care.

You're surprised? Some people just don't care. I looked at a house a few weeks ago and it had laundry everywhere...beer bottles in the shower...and cat feces in the finished basement.

The last few cars I've owned didn't have any dealer emblems on them. The Nissan dealer thought about putting theirs on my Maxima but I stopped that in short order.

Some people are not car people and as long as they are comfy could care less what happens to it after they buy it.

Yeah, I remember. The local Nissan dealership had one on a Sentra I had and also on a Quest we had. Those were metal ones but had double-sided tape on the back and came off with a little pressure from a screw driver.

I worked at a Chevrolet dealership when I bought my '76 Camaro. It was a new dealership and they had ordered their chrome name plates. When they came in, they wanted to make me let them put one on my car. It would have gone on with 2 screws. I wouldn't let them do it. I thought they were going to fire me. :squint:

Nothing I hate worse than a dealership that will put front license plates and brackets on a car. Tennessee doesn't have to have a front plate. I would refuse to buy a car if they had drilled holes in it just to advertise for themselves. :nono:

Yes...glass too! Also had food leftovers in kitchen/living room. I guess it was a single guy.

Yup1 I've had a few of them.

I've always had front license plates so they have never bothered me. I'm very happy with the dealer where I bought my G so their name on the front bracket is no problem either.

I told my dealership that if you put front plates on the car, i will nto buy it after its been custom shipped here. The salesman and service manager put big stickers all over the windows and on the front bumper saying no front plate. lol

When I was shopping for used SVT Cobras I wouldn't look past the front bumper if it had holes in it.... :tisk:
However, the 99 G20 (RIP) that we bought my daughter had two holes in it, but I had the dealership fill them and respray the bumper!
Looked great when they were done! :gapteeth:

Sometimes it can't be helped if you want a specific model and accessory package that the dealer has to trade with a dealership in a two plate state. When I got my FX35 it came from such a state. I went to Bumperplug.com and got color matched plugs to fill the holes. They match perfectly, are almost unnoticeable, and were promptly shipped. Great place!

Even though our 08 G35X was a local car, it does have the two holes in the bumper.....It was an Enterprise rental.
Don't know if it was only used by one of their execs, but was in great shape and they changed the oil every 3.5K miles. They gave me the records.
Haven't done anything to the holes......must be getting old...

took my dealer sticker off the day after i bought my G37x... so they got one day of free advertising out of me, i got a good deal so its ok lol

i was afraid to take the one off my g35x at first cause it was on the paint pretty good, i finally got up the courage and some tar remover and got it off clean...

them i replaced the dealer plate frame with my college's plate frame... and they just gave me a front plate kit, they never installed a front plate on either one of my cars.

My first Subie had all gold-color metallic trim, including the wheels. The dealer put one of their big _Cadillac_ store SILVER stick-ons on the back, crooked. I played golf with the GM a couple of days later, and showed it to him in the parking lot. He peeled it off himself.

The car was admittedly kind of garish looking. I bought it for the AWD and the McIntosh stereo. Dumped it the minute they released the Legacy GT Limited.

And to continue about NOT caring....
I just don't get my kids sometimes...
Keep telling them that they need to vaccum out their cars cause the dirt will break down the carpet and it will eventually wear on the seats and seams....but, they just don't do it. Also, getting them to wash their cars is a chore!!!
Wife says that they aren't car people like me.....
I keep telling them that it's the most expensive item they have and they need to take care of it for when they sell it! regardless of whether they are a car guy/gal.
oh well .....

BTW, daughter graduates from ASU in less than 3 WEEKS!!!! :woot:
Anybody need a VERY talented graphic design employee? WHo is also a fantastic artist? Who is a great web designer? Who is also extremely good with customers? :)

My son takes very good care of his vehicles :) my daughter :tisk: . Don't understand it. She loves cars and always went to and enjoyed car shows with me back in the days that I did that every weekend. I think she is just downright lazy. She sure didn't get that from her momma! It is 36 degrees here and i'm fixin to make me a big ole bucket of warm sudsy water and go clean up my baby. It is time to get his antlers and red nose on. Can't wait to see how they look on Z-Bo. I bet he is really a cute reindeer. I'm gonna post a pic on the Z side. I bet they ban me. :chuckle:

Link to pic here, please! I'm lazy like your daughter, can't bother with watching on the Z side.

Was also too lazy to drain the hose last time, so am waiting for it to thaw before giving Jezebel a bath. 37 degrees here, but sunny, so I've laid the hose out in the sun. I've been known to wash at 33 degrees after thawing the hose by feeding it foot by foot through a bucket of scalding water. These days I have a valved y fitting at the faucet with nothing on the lower side. Shut off faucet, open empty side of y, hold nozzle up with trigger pulled, drains sufficiently to avoid ice clog.

The very first thing I did to my G was rip the dealership plate brackets off. Bought it on a Monday night, first thing Tuesday morning they were gone.

It took my roommate a year to finally work up the desire to remove the dealer emblems from her car. =/

And my parents still have the dealer brackets AND stickers on theirs (four years now!). Don't understand it, why advertise for them? It's not like they did anything for us! Pffft.

If it hasn't been said yet, welcome to NICO. I'm in the Richmond area too (Ashland). I expect Audtatious or some of the other encyclopedic members will have a response for your lighting post soon.

I found some nice brushed chrome plain plate brackets on Amazon, immediately after getting my G. Pearson's ok, but I'm not into doing free advertising for them.

Thanks! I'm Sam! I'm in the west end, not quite Short Pump.

I didn't get mine from an Infiniti dealership, I bought it from the VW place down the street from me. They told me that they "don't detail used cars," left me less than a quarter of a tank of gas, and it had a bad wheel bearing. Stuff that I should have had taken care of before signing my name, but I was in a hurry to buy a car. BAD excuse, I know. But yeah, definitely not trying to advertise for them.

My roommate bought hers from Pearson Kia, they were pleasant enough to deal with.

I had an Audi from the VW-Audi place about 10 years ago (the one across from West End Drive). Worst service department I ever dealt with. I once dropped the car off at 7:30am for an oil change, came back at 5 and they hadn't been able to get it done. And I had an appointment.

Sorry about your wheel bearing. You can find how-to's on a lot of stuff here, on g35driver, and at myg37. Also factory shop manuals. NICO is the friendliest of the forums, IMNSHO.

Hah, yup, that's the same dealership I got it from. My parents take their Toyota to a mechanic not too far from us that specializes in imports, so since my G isn't under warranty anymore, I'm using him. That's pretty ridiculous about the oil change. =/

Yeah, I'm not really a DIYer, I'm so afraid I'll mess something up. Hehe. We'll see, as I make more payments on it, I suppose I'll get more confident. =)
