I just bought a used 04 g35 and the previous owner clearly had the letters on the trunk removed at one point and glued them back on.
Now an "I" is missing in the back and theres a nasty dried up glob of glue where it used to be. I dont want to scratch the paint, so whats the best way to remove the letters and glue to get them on cleanly?

Also, any suggestions on what to use to reapply them?

Thanks!

Goo Gone.

3M should make some type of automotive tape/glue.

Does it matter what kind of glue was used? I dont know what this person did before me but theres an ugly glob of hardened glue there and I dont want to mess up the paint.

be careful, there is some goo gone/goof off not meant to be used on paint. make sure it is "paint safe". i've made this mistake trying to remove duct tape residue from some older cars.

you can also reapply heat with a hair dryer and rub the glue off by hand (don't burn yourself) or compound it off.
