How can i Modify The Grill on the EX35

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

hey i was looking around my car the other day and i looked at the two plastic vents below the grill. they look plane and ugly i was hoping to just remove them (they seem to be able to come off the plastic bumper) then wrap them with metal Mesh fabric. im not sure what you call those mesh screens that people put in their civics and what not. but i dont know how to remove those plastic vents or removing the plastic part below the bumper. can any one give me a step by step guide on doing this? i looked under the car and there are a ton of screws but i dont know which one is holding the plastic bumper on the car. basically i really want to do this but i dont have the slightest clue where to begin. i will take some pics of the vents im talking about.

You should download the EX's Factory Service Manual as I provided from one of the STUCK threads. With all the customizations you seem to be considering, referring to the FSM will save you a lot of time, hassle and possibly damage to your vehicle.

after closer inspection i noticed these vents are just held on by some snaps i wonder if i can just snap it off and take out the vents without removing the bumper

here i took some pics so that you guys would know what im talking about

As you can see they look pretty plane, idunno or maybe its just me lolim not sure how they would look with mesh on it but cant hurt to try them on.

anyhow i see some screws under teh front bumper and i don't know if i need to unscrew them to take off the lower bumper. or if theres a easier way. i mean if its too much trouble then its not worth it. i want to get these black honeycomb vents out so i can wrap them up with the mesh then put it back in. i really dont know how to get on with this, if theres anyone that can help me please tell me what to doo!

If you downloaded all the PDF files as instructed, you should have the one called EXT.pdf. Open that one and on page 11 it shows the tools you need. On page 12-13 it shows the entire front bumper in an exploded view.

Of all the files, how did I know it was in EXT.pdf? Easy - I followed my own advice:
dividedhighw wrote:Just launch any one of these PDF files, then from within Adobe Acrobat on the open "Bookmarks" tab at the left, click on "QUICK REFERENCE INDEX" and you will see the Table of Contents (ToC). Simply click on the desired section name either shown as a Bookmark or in the ToC, and Acrobat should launch the corresponding PDF.
You did this and didn't find it?

ill try thx, is there a way to download all of the pdf's at once? on to your harddrive ?

anyways i looked at the manual and it teaches you how to remove the entire bumper. turns out the entire bumper one piece. so the plastic part is attached to the rasin part dang. now it seems like too much work. i just want to get out the front left and right finishers. i wonder if i can remove the engine lower cover and just unsnap the finishers from underneath? or is this whole idea too much work for nothing.

How about look at manufactures first. Some of them offering metal mesh as a snap-on or some kind of attachment WITHOUT removing original. May be an idea ?

Word to the wise, I would not modify the grill that much. It is designed with a purpose and that purpose is to keep the car running to keep the engine cool. Be carfeul. I know someone who modified their grill and they blew the engine out. Not enough air flow to cool it down overtime, it failed.
