Ok... I bought my '93 240sx SE a month ago or so, it being my third car. I had a '91 Integra before that, then a '91 Celica. The Celica and the Integra both got like 250 miles out of a tank of gas, and my 240 gets about 315 out of one tank of gas, but the tanks are about the same size! What's odd is that the Integra was a 1.8L engine, and the Celica a 2.2L engine. So now I have a bigger engine but get better milage?! This couldn't just be cuz of gearing could it...?

One thing which I thought it might be (dunno if it's right though) was I was wondering if the 240 shuts a cylinder down or something when it's not using it. Sometimes I'll be on the freeway crusing along at 2800 RPMs in 4th (I have an auto :( ) and I'll give it a little gas and the car will like "kick in" like and bump up to 3000 RPMs quickly. That's obviously not a downshift. Seems like it's shutting something down and when I give it a little gas it turns it back on. A cylinder maybe? This why gas miliage is so great? Or am I retarded? :pface

Nope, there's no cylinder shut-down action... I think you'd be hard pressed to find that on ANY four-cylinder engine, seeing as how the only place I've seen it is on Cadillac's new V-16. As for the RPM increase, I wish I could tell you more, but I don't know much about the auto transmission, so I have no idea :(

Doesn't excatly feel like just power cuz it's so sudden ya know? It's not like a gradual increase in RPM... i dunno! Any ideas?

Stall Converter... go to howstuffworks.com and learn how the automatic transmission works. It's basically like a clutch for the automatic.
