Hi

Does any one know how I can get the ROM number of the ECU fitted to an M45/Fuga 450 car? I need to to check if the UpRev will work on this specific ECU

Hmm...I forget how I did mine. I think I asked Infiniti and they gave me the part number which I cross referenced against UpRev's database, but not sure about ROM version. I don't think UpRev cares about the software...but the physical ECU, thus part number.

I inquired with UpRev support and they said if I can get the ROM number then they can tell me if it will work or not becasue it is originally a JDM and not a USDM car.

Just an FYI, but UpGuard customer support is NOTORIOUS for being piss poor. Personally, I wouldn't trust anything they say even if they are the creators of the product. They SUCK at support and want their resellers/reps handling customers. I'd trust their actual sales reps (tuners) far more. To that end, I would reach out to Seymore4 (on here) who is the M Forum's go to UpRev tuner.

As someone who works in IT and deals with firmwares, etc...I don't see why UpRev needs to know what OEM software is installed on your ECU (they'll be overwriting it anyway). Take for example my Android smart phone (Pixel 2 XL)...I can install any version of Android on it so long as that version (read: software package/zip file) has support for my HARDWARE within its code. Not the other way around. Hardware, once built, is static/unchanging. Software is constantly changing. As long as the firmware UpRev releases can communicate with the chips, etc. on the OEM ECU (based on part #/hardware), it doesn't matter what current software you have installed. It's a bit early in the day so hopefully that made sense.

Have you cross referenced your ECU part number against UpRev's database? Usually they can unlock an ECU that isn't listed for an extra fee (Joe/Seymore4 will handle that).

I am in New Zealand, and the car is Nissan Fuga, not Infinity M45, so not sure what might be different in the ECU hardware.

I dont think the Uprevs over write the ROM's with new software, don't they just weak the settigns? So it would need to know the version of the exist ROM code it is tweaking, at least that makes sense to me,

UpRev completely replaces the software on the ECU with a modified version of the OEM stuff.

For example, my ECU when I plug it in before flashing the UpRev tune might read as part number 20194-029J9 but when I flash UpRev it has "UpRev" in the name + other characters. Don't have my tablet connected to the car to say for sure but it 100% changes how the car/cable sees UpRev.

Again, Fuga or M45 doesn't matter unless Infiniti/Nissan gave entirely different part numbers to the JDM cars vs the USDM cars.

Bottom line, you don't need to worry about software. You need to find the hardware part # of your ECU and THAT is what UpRev (or rather Joe) needs.
