I have a ka24de engine with 5 speed tranny. Can anyone tell me how I can make the 510 speedometer work because the speedometer cable will not go into the ka's tranny. Any advice is greatly appreciated.thanks.

I ran a KA 5 speed in my 240Z and the cable worked fine, you have to keep the KA's drive gear, the cable should thread right on, are you sure the cable is good? I would think it would work I know the dimes 5 speed has been used as a bolt in for z's

so u mean if we use the ka's drive gear on the speedo it would work? so the 510's speedo would bolt on?

If I remember you can use your stock cable but you have to change the speedo on the transmission. And I think you get a 1980's 300z speedo and that will go into the tranny but you have to modify to be able to bolt on to tranny.

You will need a speedo pinion from a KA powered Hardbody. It will bolt into the tranny in place of the electronic sending unit. They are about $50 and the part numbers are in the Nissan Comp book. Mine is a 21 tooth unit for use with 225/40 VR-16 tires. The stock speedo cable will not reach and must be swapped out for a 300Z unit (or anything suitably long).
