How can a 91 nissan 240sx stock beat a 1989 Mazda rx7 in drag?

stock turbo FC? GOOD LUCK! A stock 13B Turbo rotary from an FC can produce about 180hp and thats with a 1300cc motor....man, rotarys are sexy... let us know how u do though, cuz driver ability plays a big part too.

take out all unnessesary stuff and borrow a set of the lightest rims/slicks you can. that would be your best bet.

89 rx7 runs 15.1 in the quarter and 6.7 0-60

no amount of stripping can do it for you

if you're a better driver you can win, if hes better, there is no chance

Hey, he could always strip everything out, take off the hood and trunk lid and then cut off the roof! That's good for about 2s off your time in an altima.

.........cut the roof!? LOL and after u do that u need to sacrifice 1 cow and 2 kittens to Nissan Gods to give you a one time boost of 50hp!!!

Buts seriously, if your the better driver...........

I have already beat a stock Mazda RX-7 N/A!!!

My '93 240SX is bone stock!!

You''ll maybe have some little problems on the start, all the race will be base on your start!!!! A good start and you''ll beat him.

Some of these RX-7 aren't in good shape and run like 15.6-16.0 on the quarter mile, but one in good shape can definitly do 15.3-15.6!!!

one thing youll notice if your looking for used cars and consider buying (i have) an rx-7 is that alot of them are rebuilt because the engines blowup in them ,theyre really only good for about 75000miles then they need to be rebuilt check auto trader most of the old turbo rx's are rebuilt

that would mean its better then since rebuilt but , you are right I have friend with rx-7's and they all say just what you say around 75k GAMEOVER! so I see how the win can go down ;';./,,,/, wait this long or until he's close to 75 thousand and then go race him and just cruise behind him and watch him blow up nasty stuff gonna come out

im not hating on rx's they are nice looking cars but they arent the most reliable and most of them sound and smell like shi when they are running and really the qaulity of a rebuild depends on the expierience of the mech who did it. i like circles not triangles and the rx-8's are really really ugly

ive had 6 rx7s ,and none of them were as slow as my 240. if its an s5 t2 ur in trouble. ull get him off the line , but when the turbo kicks in forget about it. stock with an airfilter and exhaust 10psi they can 13.5-14 in the quarter.

I agree. I doubt youll be able to take him ( ive hung with a few fc's) but just have fun racing. Make sure you get a good launch, and you shift as fast as possible because thats the only way your gonna get goin. Let us know the results though and good luck!!

simplest way to win is to get another 240 SOHC automatic with black interior. Make sure it doesnt look too good cause you need the suprise factor. keep it under a grand. take off the power steering belt and the ac belt and remove those units from the motor. If the radiator and ac lines are good take them out. take off all your piping up to the throttle. take off the cat. and the exhaust from there back. strip the rear seats out and all things that can come out. install rear and front tower braces and stabilizer bars. If you can pull the side glass that would be good. also door panels etc. and take out the dash and center console leave the gauge cluster. get hte pignose off and the front fenders too. Yes you need to strip that mutha down!!! 2

At the time of the race you need to have done several one wheel burnouts to warm your 1 tire and make sure you are on his left sidewhen you get the green you need to floor it and keep the car as straight as possible. when you notice that he is starting to pull (probably early on) you need to allow him to lunge ahead but not too far. as his rear gets just even with your front bumper support you should yank the wheel as hard as you can to the right. Yup! I said it... ram that joka!!!, this should cause him to go into and uncontrollable spin and seriously damage your car and piss him off!!! keep driving cause niggaz these days are always strapped!!! and you have to get home to put all those parts you pulled on ebay in order to afford the turbo for your good car and keep yourself out of these situations

Well guys, i have done it. i raced the RX-7. i can happily say that i beat it by 2 cars from the start. @ 1st gear he got a good start because i reved up to high and my 240 stared to fishtail. In my second gear i caught up to it by double shifting(eventhough it messes up my clutch) by third i already had the lead by 1/2 car as i was hiting 80mph@ 6.75 rpm by fourth it came down to luck because he was trying to catch up. over all the race finished @ 110 mph on fourth. so luckily i managed to take everything unnecessary such as front hood, passanger seat, back seat, subwoofer, amp, stereo, i know its a bit exagerating but one never knows to what extent one must go to win. right?
