Replacing a head gasket on a CA18DE. The compression is a 9:5:1 compared to the DET which is 8:5:1. I want to get a stock turbo manifold and a t-25 or a t-28. What size should i purchase the head gasket? to make it a 8:5:1 or should i go lower? Please do not delete this thread.

You're going to need a lot more than a turbo manifold to run that puppy. The CA18DE sucks for converting to turbo.

Second, you do not buy a thicker headgasket to lower the compression. It messes up the quench area of the combustion chamber and the car wont run worth a ****. Also, you would never be able to buy a thick enough headgasket to lower the compression that much.

Lastly, I bet this thread gets deleted in less than 3 hours.

first thing is that you need to listen to the people that tell you things about the ca.the people on this forum has been working on the ca18det for years and has seen about everything to do with it. and do some research on the motor.thats why theres a search area.

if your wanting to turbo your car just save up the money and do it right.

1.search2 read3. read4.ask ? about your swap after you have seached it out.

Stop playing around and get a CA18DET. You're going to screw yourself big time by waisting your time on something your knowledge is not that vast on. So in closing, budget boosting is bad, especially when you're trying to convert an engine's characteristics, but is clueless as to where to begin.

You can't lower the compression with a headgasket. You CAN, but, as Chris said, it's effects the quench area and the motor won't run well.

I am running a 9.5:1 compression CA and I can garuntee you that you can't do it w/o a standalone and forged pistons. Also the CA18DE lacks a crank girdle and oil squirters.

I'm not saying it can't be done, but, and I mean you no offense, you don't seem to have the know-how to pull something like this off.
