so i got a code a week back from my check engine soon light. its the mass air flow sensor. i looked up the part and its 300$ msrp. i thought maybe id be under warranty for this, because these cars have issues with mass air flow sensors from what ive heard. but nope, its only 48 months or 60k and im at 56 months and 53k. anyone had this replaced? whats a reasonable rate for the labor. cant take more than an hour to replace....?

Replacing the sensor itself is the easy part. The parameter resets are probably where the tech spends most of their time. I'm not sure if this just entails swapping out sensors, then doing all of the learn procedures or if there is more to it.

You might get a quote from the dealer, then shop around for that sensor. EverythingG35.com and Riverside Infiniti would be my two suggestions.

How often do you change your air filter?

Mine gets pretty dirty after 8 - 10k miles and I change it. Its a very easy 15 min job.

so youre telling me the code may be related to a dirty air filter? ive noticed the car runs fine. other than the light i havent noticed any changes. it came on at the end of a 300 mile drive back from tampa. but it has stayed on for the next 120 miles and counting since last saturday....

if you haven't changed your filter in a while then that could be a problem if air flow is drastically reduced.

Replacing the filter may be one option. Before buying a new MAF sensor I would try CLEANING the MAF first too.
