if the caliper is seized, you will be unable to push the piston back into it when you install new breaks. if your just running stock front calipers, you could probaly pick one up off of the classifieds here for dirt cheap, and have the piece of mind that it has not had the pad fall out.
on another note, i used to have a 91 toyota corolla and had this happen to me, exept instead of fixing the problem, i kept driving using the ebrake to slow me down for stop lights and signs. extremely dangerous thing to do, and i wouldn't recomend it
