Hi, just recently got a 240sx for cheap
i understand in Canada there almost no rust free 240sx
so im just wondering how bad are these rust on the strut towers??
And worth it to bring it to the shop? since i have no Welding experience or just leave it the way it is and spray some rubberized asphalt coatings on

Ugh.

Here's the deal: Rubberized undercoating won't do anything but give the rust a nice, dark, cozy home (and trap more moisture). Don't waste your money.

That's bad. I'm not gonna sit here and sugar-coat it, that's a structurally-unsound car. Drive the hell out of it, don't put a bunch of money into it, and save up for something that's not rusted all to hell.

If it's coming UP into the engine bay, you can bet the underside of the strut towers are even worse. And the frame rails and subframe mounting points are probably even nastier.

Sorry to be the harsh one... some will say it can be fixed - but the car isn't worth the money you'd spend on cutting / welding / grinding / priming / painting.

Drive it as a beater and buy something that's not corroded.

It doesn't look too horrid tbh, where abouts in Canada are you from?

IF that is all thats gone it should be fine, people who tub their wells would be removing those areas anyway...

It is also VERY important to get under the car and check the frame rails. Behind the front wheel where it curves around the firewall and above the exhaust are famous places for rot. If its only in that general area its not too bad.

North east regioners have to spend money and sheet metal to save 240's from crushers and scrap heaps. Road salt is a b****.

MMMMM....Rust. My new 4 letter word. Pop off the fenders and see how far it goes. Also since you found that check the rest of the car, and see where else and how bad it is. I thought that my rust issue was going to be small ( just the entire rocker pannel on both sides..eh), but after grinding, sanding and poking i found the rear half of the car to be full of holes and large patches that were rusted through. Oddly enough the frame rails were fine, everything else was s*** LOL.

I really hope that you and I are not in the same boat but...not looking good.

Drivers side looks to be the worse of the two, drive it like you stole it and work on finding a shell to swap everything into once the tower rips itself off.

I'm from the west coast. Vancouver, B.C. It sees alot of rain and salt there too :(
The frame rail and the floor seems to be fine, i don't see any sort of holes or rust there.
But there is some rust bubbling under the rockers.

Yep theres more ,bubbling means its under the paint so another bad sign. Theres a lot more you cant see, I guarantee it. Did you just do a visual inspection of the floor and rails or with a screw driver or something to tap around with?
