How are Z32 calipers measured? Quick question.

I just got some 300zx calipers from autozone, and I have no way of knowing if they are 26mm or 30mm. Is that measurement the distance of the slot on top and bottom where the rotor fits in? Basically is that the width of the rotor that fits in the caliper? Cause mine have a 30mm gap.

If so, when I go back to autozone, is there anyway to tell them which exact calipers I need. They made both in in 1990. If I get 1989 calipers (1st year of z32) will that guarantee 26mm calipers, cause the only pics I saw of '89 calipers on autozone's site were small little calipers (similar looking to the rear calipers on our cars)?

Let me move this out of the rear wheel drive SR engine forum to the tire/wheel/brake/suspension forum for you.

Your question is a bit confusing in the first place. Have Autozone look up the nissan part number for the caliper that you have now, and make sure to ask for only Nissan part number _____ in the future. A simple brake application/reference guide, found in any auto shop or parts store can give you the info you need. Sheesh, looks like I need to start bringing reference books home with me...

Thanks, but I asked Autozone for the part number and they said they didn't have a nissan parts reference for that part. Talking to the guys who work at my local autozone is like explaining quantum physics to an 8-year old.

its a measurement of rotor thickness, search around, someone provided a link to anands info on the brake caliper measurements, but the 26mm versus 30mm were measures of rotor thickness...

the 30mm calipers are longer, if that helps any.-chet
