Would like to see how you are handling your new Coupe? I'm lost and some say I don't need to, just DRIVE it!

I have like 500km and been Smooth on Accelaration (under 3k RMP), Braking Easy and keeing her around 100km on the Highway and I'm not using CVT +/- just on Drive.

I am at 400 mi I am keeping it under 4k rpm, like yourself easy on the brakes. I am using the CVT at times but shifting earlier than I want to. It's hard not to turn the coupe loose, you can tell it will really run!

Just keep it under 4k rpm for the first ~1300 miles and you should be good. Afterwards, rev all you want but still be gentle. You can use the CVT as well..won't hurt the car.

Drive it for 25 miles on the highway back and forth. Drive it moderately 2-4k. Do this about 3-4 times. Than drive it for 500 miles at a steady normal mode. Should be fine afterwards. Many people have different ways of doing this. Some work and some don't.

its all how you think it should be done.

The VQ engine's moving parts are polished to a high shine at the factory, so there is less surface mating a break in that is required, even at that, i think the factory does some engine break in as well. I took it easy to about 500 miles, slow acceleration, easy breaking, low RPM shifting....

But now after 500 (only at 800 now), i jump on it and rev her out occasionally. i'll bring her around a corner and hammer it up 60MPH. The idea is i want heat to start to play a role in seating components as well.

All car manufacturers have the engines run through a self turning engine machine that checks off the engine to be within specification/blue print. http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm http://www.stealth316.com/2-breakin.htm

We talked about this at work when getting new take home cars, I am a police officer. With the few actual new cars I have gotten I tried to stay close to the speed, RPM, and duration limits set by the manufacturer. One guy had worked for the state for thirty years. He said every new state issued vehicle he had ever gotten was driven at 120MPH all the way from the capital back to whatever duty station it was going. Knowing alot of guys I would bet this was/is a common practice. They were then driven like hell for 100K miles. He said he never noticed a difference.

From what i understand of New cars is that a majority of them are already broken in at the factory. So technically driving like a grandma for 100, 1000, or 10,000 makes little difference. I floored my M when i got it new, i don't notice any difference in it. The older generation of people grew up with older engine types iron blocks and none of the technology we have. So i think they still pass on this old tradition of breaking in a engine to thier kids, because cars of older years really had to be broken in for several thousand miles before dirving it hard, and thus we have this on going debate on how many miles to break in/ how to drive it.
