How are aftermarket rims colored?

What is used on colored rims, like white, gunmetal, bronze ect. Is it paint and clear coat or is it powdercoated?

It's paint. It comes off with some airplane paint remover.

ok, cool. So then to make some custom color wheels you dont need to powdercoat them, A good paint shop will make them look like they came from the factory. I wonder why everyone recommends not to paint and says to powdercoat, I have never had any problems with the paint on the spokes of my rims, not like a curb can scratch em in there.

i worked at a powder coating facility i saw a couple a rims go through, all i can say is never powder coat somehting chrome it looks right stupid. get it chrome dipped. other then that any color looks fine on them "silver vein" is a cool color. black with silver veins.

im using the paint thats being used to paint my car, to paint my rims, my cars gonna be blacked out
