I read in the users manual its behind the glove box, but i have no idea where it is...

reason for doin this is becasue i noticed everytime i turn the Air Conditioning on and let it run for a while, then when i turn the AC off i get this odd smell coming from the vents

That smell is fairly normal because you are smelling the ac compressor turning off...it's fairly common in most cars. You only need to change the cabin air filter every 15,000 miles or so.

As for changing it, you have to basically take off your glove box. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but you basically just unscrew the glovebox from your dash and from there you are able to swap in a new air filter (you can buy those at any local auto store). It's a pain in the butt, but overall not very difficult to do.

How long have you had it? I've had mine close to 6 months now (rolled off the lot on 01.30.08), and it still has a fairly strong new car smell.

It helps that I love it being dim and COLD in the cabin. In addition to 15% all around tint, my AC is constantly running on low, with the air recycle feature on. Consequently, my windows are never all the way down very long, and usually are only down an inch or two. That, and I only use the moonroof as just that...when the moon's out.

I love new car smell, and I am doing good preserving mine as long as possible. :D

Open you glove box, there are 3 screws lining the top edge, facing you, remove those. Now, look under the glove box, just past where the covering stops. There should be a lip there, just behind it, are 3 more screws. Remove them as well. Now, close the glove box, and pull it out.

You should now see a rectangular, vertical, black cover. Its on the right side I believe. You disengage the little tab at the bottom of the cover. You now have access to the filter. Remove the filter by using the pull-tab located on the bottom of the filter.

Do a writeup with pics, and get a custom user title out of this

I was able to remove the glovebox with no problem, but there was no rectangular, vertical black cover on the right side. The closest thing I saw was a black cover that I believe would be it, but it was centered way in the back up against the firewall....Could that be it?? It seems you would have to remove the front dashboard just to try to get to it. Or am I missing something here??

Here it is.

1) Remove the Right hand side console finisher cover

2) Right hand side console finisher with 4 plastic clips

3) Remove the passenger dash side cover (held in by clips)

4) Remove 3 Phillips screws on bottom of glove box [IMG][http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r18/ ... 270002.jpg[/IMG]

5) Remove 3 Phillips screws on top of glove box

6) Remove 2 Phillips screw inside the glove box

7) Pull the glove box outwards to remove it

8) Stick your head under the dash and look all the way to the back of the firewall and look for a push up tab (this pic shows the right hand side of the center console)

9) Here is a close up shot of the air filter cover with me holding the push tab

10) The air filter is easily accessed behind the glove box and it has a pull tab on the filter itself for you to pull it out. It's really tight so you need to pull it out with some force. Installation is the reverse.

That's just ridiculous, my last Coupe ('02 Acura RSX Premium) I only had to remove two clips form glove compartment to access the Cabin Filters.

I guess I won't be changing it until Spring. Thanks for the Write Up/Pics.

The pics said that removing the old filter is a pain as it is kinda shoved in there - is putting it in hard?

It's really TIGHT so you need to pull it out with some force. Installation is the reverse. That means it's also hard to put in the new one.

Got the filter for 16 dollars from advance auto parts, installed it in an hour having never done it before and the "pull tab" breaking off when I tried to pull the filter off. Also I was filming it so that took extra time too.
