19 inch Volk CE28s 4 Wheels w/Tires 80% thread left

According to the guy they are gunmetal 19x8 all around +48 offset 5x114.3 w/tires (bridgestone)

all for $1300 .... Seem like a good price right?

I was googling and I didn't see any 19'' Volk CE28 that are that offset. Does this sound like a scam to you guys? The guy won't be available til Sunday so I can't see it til then. How do you tell if it's genuine Volks and not a replica? He said they are ..... Also, are hub caps important? He's missing it.

thanks

You never know until you check it out in person. Hey, back in the day, I sold a set of mint $1700 racing wheels for $600. They were in absolute mint condition with about 85% tread just because I wanted to get them off my hands. Sometimes you'll find great deals.

I've never heard of any counterfeit Volk's out on the market before. I know there are some companies like Rota and a couple others who make replicas, but I've never heard of knock-offs. The CE28's are probably one of the most copied styles by Volk so I would proceed with caution. It is a little fishy that he doesn't have the caps.

They should be stamped on the inside of the rim. And you could probably just tell by the weight of the wheels. Being that they're 19's, I'd say they'll weigh around 20-24lbs.

Yea I'm a bit worried they got jacked off of some other car cuz he's missing the hub caps. Also I'm not sure I should buy Volks because I park on the street at night, don't want my wheels to be gone in the morning. Maybe I should just buy a new set of Axis

Just buy a set of wheel locks so you won't have to worry. And if you're that paranoid, buy 5 different sets of locks so you have five different lug nuts on each wheel As funny as it may sound, I knew a guy who had two different locks on each wheel

I'm pretty sure the offset is way too high for your car.

I thought I saw in one of the threads on here that the A/C can go as high as 48. I think i'm just gonna forget them Volks and go w/ the Axis 5 twin spokes. I like that look better anyway

It'll fit but will be sunken in a little. And you could always cure that with a spacer. 5mm will safely get you sticking out more than the stock wheels.

I still have not bought the wheels yet. Have not found anything I really liked so far. Now I think this is going to be my final style change. I want to get 5 spokes like I've always wanted, black though with a polished lip. I think 19x8.5 @ +40 will be my optimal size, will that cause a rub with the width of the tire and if I plan to drop it an inch?. I kinda like how that looks with a Silver car.

What do u guys think about Motegi wheels? are they comparable to Axis?

I was also looking at buying used 5ZIGEN's 5ZR 18'' then repaint the spokes to gloss black. The 19'' are too expensive.

Thanks

Yeah, I'd say it's comparable to the quality of Axis. That size will fit and clear if dropped an inch. If I were you, I'd just keep looking around for a set of used forged aluminums because if you're going 19's, potholes may be a big issue. The chances of you bending a wheel is greatly increased going +2 running 40's.

5Zigen is a good quality wheel. Pretty lightweight and very durable.

Thanks for the input, Generic. Around my areas there aren't much potholes but I might just go for 18s just to be a bit safer.

Yeah, for us here in Hawaii, potholes are a very big issue. Roads here are horrendous! There's roadwork going on basically everywhere on the island. I would never run 19+ here in Hawaii, but if your roads are smooth, go big!

Hawaii? You have to be kidding me... Ever drive on the BQE (brooklyn queens expressway) or the Belt Parkway? It IS a pothole... The entire thing...

I thought most potholes are caused by the ground freezing then unfreezing... i didnt think they existed where there was no snow...

haha yeah, actually I have most of my father's side of the family in NY and NJ. Been there quite often in the past and no, the BQE can't even compare to the roads here, believe me. I'm on Oahu and the roads are beyond terrible. If you ever make a trip out to "paradise", try taking a drive down Kapiolani Blvd and you'll see what I'm talking about. That road has been under construction for the last few years and it looks exactly the same as it did when they started. Pothole after pothole, barriers every which way possibe, steel plates every 30ft, cones lying all over the road, etc. It's a nightmare driving down that road; that's why I'll never take my car down that street. Only company vehicles will touch their tires with that pavement

BTW rain is the main cause of potholes here. We have rain pretty much almost every day. Sometimes a little and sometimes it rains cats and dogs.

That would piss me off. My car would never been clean. During the summer here it rains once a week IF that.

Trust me, Tyler, I deal with that all the time. Ever since I got my car, I washed it at least once a week. Every single time, it rained, with the exception of two times. My car can never stay clean; that's why I didn't get black.
