how 2 prep a kit?

im looking to put a bodykit on my 91 z and i was wondering what needs to be done to the kit be4 it can be put on. i heard there is some prep work that must be done to fiberglass kits be4 they are put on. something about sanding down for the best look... is that neccessary? what kind of shop am i looking for to take care of this?

If you're not going to do it yourself, any auto body shop can do it for you.

I did my own, but you may not have access to the tools you'd need.
