We are seriously considering moving to Houston in few years. How many peoples are from there and if you could let me know what are some good areas to live in?

I am going to be buying a house out there so some areas where there are some nice homes and good school districts and all would be helpful!

thanks

MSN has a really neat neighborhood demographics database. I'll see if I can dig it up.

houston has a big car scene, check http://www.houston-imports.com, there are all sorts of car guys on there, a lot more than are on nico. There are meets every week all over town, two drag strips, an active SCCA chapter... and if you don't mind heading up towards college station or over towards austin (ok, so if you don't mind traveling 4 hours in either direction) there are occasionaly some drift meets. Haven't seen any info on Houston area drift meets or road courses, but I'm relatively new in town. As far as nice places to live, I think if I could pick and chose I'd want to swing over by memorial park, it is really nice and a very very short commute into downtown (you would have a view of the skyline). big trees, stuff is spaced apart. nice district. Down towards clearlake is nice but kind of a far commute, not the greatest area.

let me clear a few things up....

There are 5 tracks within 1 hour of houston.4 1/th mile (1 with a drift course) and Houston Raceway Park (1/4 mile).

I live and work out in Katy (west side) and am fairly happy with the area, although the city seems to spread closer every day.

houston-imports.comimportgossip.comhtownracing.com

are all local sites for the majority of the car scene (racing drifting and show).

There are meets all week in different parts of town, and the Saturday night meet with over 200 cars at Oscar's Creamory in North Houston.

If you want nice, move to Austin.

If you want cheap, move to Houston.

when I'm home or in the shop I've got the AIM on Aries240SS and the MSN is almost always on [email protected]

My car is currently sitting next to it's motor, but all that will be changing this weekend :

Alan's right about Austin (and surrounding areas) being nicer, but Houston seems to have more things going on (car wise). Anyways, if you can afford it, move to the Cinco Ranch area, nice and quiet, big houses, good schools, expensive cars, but if not Katy/Cypress (north west) part of Houston would be the next choice (I live in Cypress area). Just a short drive away you got a whoole lot going on (Friday night Drift meets, don't know if they are still going on) Grind 101, Oct. 31st is the next meet, and allot of cars at Oscars Creamory.

After living in Atlanta (and surrounding areas) for 10 years, and Plano for a year and Houston for almost 6, I like Houston best.

Although when my parents and I went to San Marcos, we were debating about moving there. Anyways, good luck=)

Thanks...

my in-laws live in Katy.. I liked the houses there..

after living in SoCal since 91 (when I moved to this country) I have fallen in Love with California... it's weather and everything else..

Except the Real estate... God it's expensive as hell out here to live..

My Wife was born and raised in TX and her parents, sister and other family is still out there.

I don't really have anything holding me back in Cali except it's the only place I know..

After looking at the houses in Katy/Bell Air/ Pear land/ Sugar Land area... I am all about the move..

I can get a bigger/better house that has like a yard.. and I mean a real yard... haha for 1/4th the price of my house right now!

so we'll see what goes on there. I am coming out there in December, I want to check out a few areas personally and check out something. I will let you guys know if I have time to meet up..

This is going ot be a big move for us.. so I gotta start my research early...

Austin is full of hippis, and their water tastes wierd.

I wouldn't recommend living inside the beltway, though. The roads are crappy, and the zoning is really ****ty. If you want to live in the houston area, you'll want to live in one of the surrounding cities.

I'm not sure that **** is right, I'm from a tiny rural town in WV and I looked it up and it said average house cost was like 120k.**** we paid 30,000 for a 3 story house in good shape with 20 acres.
