I live in Houston, TX and of course my biggest question is where (in Houston) can I find an EXPERINCED shop in doing sr20 swaps into 240's. Also I am planning to attend school in San Antonio and the question remains for San Antonio also. If anyone has done a swap in any of these places talk to me.:help

Hey I don't have the swap done currently (I'm planning on doing it myself) but the guy I bought my 240 from is currently getting an SR put in his other car, which happens to be a 240. Give him an e-mail, I'm sure he'd be happy to tell you about the shop. Tell him Chris sent you. his e-mail: [email protected] Chris

Boost Factor is in Dallas and can do the swap.

edit: CTC Motorsports are also in Dallas and can do the swap.

Did you talk to Flashoptions? I live (near) houston too. Since we have a port here I was thinking they could ship it here pretty easily and I'd pick it up at the port. Did they say they could ship to a Houston port?

Ha.. I'm sure shipping by air would be $1000 or so. Flashoptions says they can only really ship to a port.

Hey Mike,Although CTC Motorsports engines are a bit more expensive, I believe they come with a "plug and play" wiring harness for your specific engine/chassis combo. If this is true, the hard part is done and the rest of the swap is a piece of cake with the right tools. BTW...they also have a pretty good reputation in the supra community so their engines should be top notch. I'm not sure if you know Sam from Carboy but they are actually swapping a SR20 into his car as we speak.

damn man sounds good... so are u gonna go there to get ur engine swap or just get the wire harness from them and do the rest urself?? do u know how much they charge to install or how much that wire harness is?? yea i saw all those supras on their webpage i was like  i didn't know that there was that many supras in texas...

I believe they charge $1000 to put the motor in and the harness service is free with the engine. I will be going with a standalone so I'm not worried about even getting the harness with my engine since I will have to have a custom one made anyways. TX probably has more supras than any other state...there are A LOT of them in Houston but nobody ever takes their cars out anymore.

To be honest, I don't know which would actually have more experience installing the SR20 but I would take my car to CTC Motorsports if I wasn't doing it myself.

Do a search on FA. basically the whiteline endlinks SUCK. people get more body roll with whiteline on full stiff & coilovers then stock!!

there is a way to use the stock endlinks with the whitelines, but alot of people just stick with stock sway bars

well it can't be that much worse than stock. The S13 swaybar in the rear is teensy weensy. :)

We shall soon see, if they suck, I might just get a cusco rear and keep the whiteline front.

whatever ya'll do, don't go to Protek in Austin. Those guys did an INTENSELY bad job on my friends SR. The motor they originally put in was blown, so they rebuilt it with better pistons and rods but when they hooked everything back up they had the cylinders firing opposite (he has an SDS system) and it blew up again within a week. He is now on his 3rd SR and he recently toasted a valve racing an M3 (beat the pants off the M3 guy though:))

holy **** this is what CTC quoted me for a SR swap:

1) "$7400 for the entire swap including parts, labor, intercooler, downpipe, fuel pump, ac line, power steering line, welding flange on ic pipe."

2) "For just labor it is $1200 to do the swap, $300 to modify the wiringharness, and $3200 for the engine, ecu, transmission, harness."

could someone kinda explain this to me??? do all those parts lised above the i/c, down pipe, fuel pump, etc... not come w/ the engine or something? and what's the difference between the 2 quotes? cause 7400 is pretty far out of what i can afford...

The engine probably comes with everything but the down pipe. I'd figure out what they were charging me $3200 for, parts wise. Those better be brand-name parts, that come out of boxes with stamps like Walbro, Greddy, etc. on the side.
