Yup, took the head off, pistons out, and looked everything over. I got a couple pictures. I'll try and get them posted up tomorrow so u can all see what broken belts do! Well to anyone that hasn't already

Another point I realized, the det pistons have cutouts for the squirters. Guess I'll jsut have to make myself some custom cutouts on the DE pistons.

Oh yeah, the top ring on both cyl 3 and 4 were in pieces, fell apart as I pulled the piston out. Cyl 1 and 2 are great though, despite #1 looking like it has a detonation spot? Guess I know why I had blow by!? Oh yeah, weird part about the destroyed rings is that i have NO scoring on my walls, they are mirror smooth.

Cyl #3 looks like it took the most valve damage, the intake valves are so fubar the cam wont spin fully around.

Oh, and as an added bonus, I found a spot where my brand new head gasket had blown through! sweet.

You just gotta love it

Jeez man. Gotta hate it when a brand new motor grenades itself.

When do you think you'll be back on the road again?

Well don't be a stranger while you're down. Good luck with the build and keep us updated.

But of course! I have never built an engine from scratch, so I will need pointers and friendly advice aplenty! I have plenty of tools and time, the hard part will be saving enough money for everything I want to do.

I must check this forum almost daily.

Its nice to read.hear about stuff unrelated to chevy small blocks.

LOL. I've got a chevy small block 350 in my work truck. It's a good motor. Pulls my 12K lb van around at 80mph like it's nothing!
