I too come from a background of classic V8's, so I know where you are coming from. A turbo is a very different beast than a SC. Not in boost, since forced induction is largely forced induction, but in the way they create that boost. Being belt driven, a superchargers pumping action is directly related to the speed of the crank. This makes it easy to predict the level of boost and then build and tune to that level.A turbo extracts energy from the exaust to give boost. Because this is indirectly related to crank speed, a given turbo can provide a varying amount of boost with differing characteristics based on a multitude of features. To list a few:Length of exaust runners to the turbo.Whether the exaust pulses are timed to arrive sequentially ("equal length").The trim of the turbine. The trim of the compressor. The AR of the turbine "snailshell"The AR of the compressor....on and on.So without a specific goal, it becomes very difficult to say "The disco potatoe is the turbo for you", even if you hear that from a lot of kit companies. It is obvious that you know engines, so doing a little research on turbos should be fun for you and I bet you will pick it up darn fast. So look around and ask questions. This board is great for this. Try the KA-T forum. Also consider picking up the book "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell. Good stuff there.
