Hey I just put on my hotshot header this weekend. By the way if you have any questions on how to get the old off or new on I used a couple little tricks. Anyways, I have a problem that is bugging me. The header collector is bumping the floor right about under your feet where the floor is lower if you were sitting in the car. When I put it in I was suprised to find barely any clearance between that pipe and the floor probly like 1/8-1/4 I'd guess. It only bumps the floor when I start the car or when the engine twists enough but it's real annoying. I thought of this, don't know if it would work, but I remember hearing that Nismo motor mounts seemed to raise the height of the engine compared to stock mounts. If I put them in would it rotate my engine enough to pull the header down from that floor. Will this work? If not, any other ideas?

I had similar clearance issues with my obx in my ka24e s13. I am using oem motor mounts filled with urethane windo-weld, that will help greatly with the shaking problem. I doubt mounts that raise the engine will help you out very much, but who knows it may tilt your engine up enough in front to give your header a better angle.

With nicely filled motor mounts, the engine will shake very very little. They are an improvement all around, i would suggest you do that, its cheap.

How do you do this "windo-weld" stuff and where do you get it?

i noticed on my altima that the hotshot header was chaffing the oil pan, i know this is a 240 thread, but hotshot has clearance issues pretty often. one thing you can do is, when its hot, pull down on the pipe with gentle pressure and youll be able to form it just enough to get it away from the floor board.

Windo-weld is just what i used. But what you want is hard drying urethane windshield install glue (pretty much liquid rubber). Windo-weld is made by 3M, and you can get it at glass shops and probably some autoparts stores. You will want oem mounts that are in decent condition (no cracks), just clean them very good with chemical of your choice (make sure its clean drying, like carb cleaner). You fill in all the ribs of the mounts with the urethane, and liberally build up the outside of the mount. You should let it dry for a couple days, this might not be possible but you could look around for another set of oem mounts to do it to. Once installed your engine will not shake much at all (a lot of vibration will be transferred to body tho so be ready for that). I have this done on my 2.5l kaE, the header is about 1/4-1/2" from the floor pan, and the strut bar is about 1/4" from the valve cover. My engine does not rattle against anything.

Hey asleep altima, you would want to either heat the header with torch, or support it really well on the other side. The stress of reafing on a header with that leverage is not good for the exhaust bolts head or headgasket seal. Im not dogging the idea, but if the header does not want to bend easily its not worth it. Nothing wrong with a little torch discoloration on the bottom of the header.

actually it would be worse on the downpipe bolts than on the head gasket, maybe even the exhaust manifold gasket. the head gasket is pretty well secured. but yeah, i agree, a torch on there wouldnt hurt anything.

i didn't have any problems with hs header. well nothing major, but definitely not clearance problem.

i did have problems with apex n1 dual rubbing against the st swaybar. i used some left over heat wrap around the exhaust part where it hits the sway bar.

good luck.....
