Good news is that I just got a free hotshot header today and installed it. I have a bunch of questions about it. Hopefully this post will help a lot of people, since I haven't found to much on the header.

I have an 1995 S14, but Im not sure which "gen" header I have. I had no problems with clearance or anything. However there is a spot on one of the runners down below that is most likely for another o2 sensor. I was welded closed so I didn't use it. My second o2 (near cat) I ziptied up and left it connected. I also eliminated my EGR valve on the intake manifold as the header also hada plug in the EGR opening so I figured "what the hell"

Questions:

1) My CEL is on because of my IAC valve and I have replaced the valve and the car idles fine now: but every time I reset the ECU and clear the codes it ends up coming back (code 25). So I just pulled the light in the cluster cause it was pissing me off. Will this second o2 disconnected have any effect on the timing/fuel curve? I thought the first o2 closest to head was the one that controlled that, which is why I disconnect the second one.

2) This header is LOUD!! I cannot find any leaks, but it still sounds like its leakign a little. I dont know if its just the sound this header makes or what (I also have an intake and 3" N1 catback). I like the way it all sounds together, but it just sounds different/raspy sort of. Is this normal for the HS?

3) Has anyone passed emissions with the precat and second o2 sensor removed? Im not talking about visual.. I mean if the precat really doesnt do much and the second o2 sensor doesnt effect the fuel, then technically if the car is in good shape it could pass the sniffer right? Or am I wrong here... Maybe the precat does have a big effect on it and the 2nd o2 sensor does as well.

Any help on these topics would be superly fantastical guys, thanks!!

First off your CEL light is coming on because of the second o2 sensor. The second o2 sensor tells the ecu that the cat is malfuntioning. That is also why your car is so loud. The second cat is a fake on obdII s14's. It is just like running a test pipe. You have to have a real 2 or 3 stage cat between your o2 sensors for the light not to come on. As far as removing the other stuff on your car you are on your own. I am pretty sure the obdII computer needs that other emissions equipment intact to work right and not throw cel codes. I don't think the car will go into limp mode for that code though.

Well the light is already on...

So the second cat is hollow? So then apparantly those who get teh header geta new cat to pass emissions i guess ey?

Also my car is OBD1 not OBD2.

I know the EGR removed wont limp mode anything or effect performance, i was just worried about the o2 sensors. I guess I can extend the wiring on it and connect it to the header.

Do you have a HS? Is that what most people do?

THanks for the reply Oli

My bad, even obdI needs the o2 sensors. You might have a real cat back there I think the obdI s14's do. I am using HS right now until my turbo goes in. I had to add a cat in and weld an extra o2 sensor bung behind the new cat. It works believe me.
