Hey guys, I am looking at what downpipe to get and I came across the hotpipes. I guess they eliminate the cat. I did a search for this, but none of them answered this question. What I wanted to know is, is that safe...i.e. will the motor still run fine, with enough back pressure. Thanks for any input.Josh

Yes, the car will run fine. I recommend HPI's stainless steal 3" downpipe that eliminates the cat. http://www.lsauto.com

I think what you mean is a test-pipe. Test pipes eliminate the cat, whereas hotpipes connect the intercooler to the turbo. Test pipes are fine, the turbo creates enough backpressure for the exhaust. I reccomend the Project Silvia test-pipe. http://www.projectnissan.com/P...t=591

Legal disclaimer: running with no cat is illegal, as it allows more pollutants to enter the atmosphere, greater destroying the ozone layer.

You may want to consider what pgt892 said. If you were to buy a downpipe that eliminates the cat then your stuck that way. I dont know about where you live but in VA running without a cat carries a healthy fine(i believe up to $1500). You could just buy the regular GReddy, HKS, Apex'i, Blitz downpipe everyone else is running and buy a "test pipe". It's just a 3'' hollow pipe that bolts up and takes place of your cat. You can get it from Heavy throttle, Enjuku racing, or project silvia. That way if you need to you can bolt your cat up and keep the same downpipe.
