I bought a custom hotpipe from heavy throttle awhile ago and a blitz bov, I just went to go put it all together today and there is a bit of a problem.

It blocks the upper rad hose.

This isn't really the setup i'd like to run (hotpipe/bov), but since I bought this stuff months and months ago before I really did much reading on the topic, I'd still like to use it just for the time being. But now it doesn't look like I can.

Anyone run into this problem? I guess i'll trying calling HT tomorrow.

Try turning the pipe around, most of the time when I see BOVs on hotpipes, the BOV is close to the turbo/airbox area. I may be wrong but I know with my Greddy hotpipe I can just about get it to work both ways.

This one doesn't unfortunately, it hits the PS reservoir and the pipe isn't long enough on the one end to reach the intercooler pipe once it is flipped.

Then you're best bet is to get ahold of HT. I don't think they'd intentionally sell a product that doesn't allow you to hook up a radiator hose.

Well that just sucks. I suppose you could cut the flange off and move it/flip it over to the other side. Then patch up the old hole. But I'd just send it back to them and get a stock hotpipe and weld the BOV onto that.

well they probaly didn't build it expecting people to be using a rad built for the SR...most people still use the KA rad and the hose would connect to the rad on the other side...

just a thought

oh, does it matter if the bov is on the hot pipe or the cold pipe?

It doesn't "matter" in terms of whether or not it will discharge air, but there is a small difference in behavior. Mounting the BOV on the hotpipe gives best protection for compressor surge, whereas mounting on the cold pipe gives slightly better response after shifting. But both work well.

However in Cyber's case I am assuming he will not want to relocate the BOV to the cold side, if that is what you were getting at. For one, I get the impression Cyber is all DIY, but don't think he wants to weld stuff himself. Second, if you have a FMIC, the coldpipe will be aluminum, which is less common and more expensive to weld. That also requires buying a new aluminum flange from Blitz, and then ALSO patching up the hole on the HT hotpipe, unless he gets a stock one. Anyone with basic welding skills and equipment can move it on the steel hotpipe.
