Alright, lemme start with the background:I'm on AIM last night, and my girlfriend says that she's done changing her profile, so of course I'm going to check it out, right? Turns out, she has an AIM virus and it says "I never expected to find a picture of nametakennow here!" (it would obviously put whoever's SN was viewing it). Right, so not realizing this, I click on it, it says I need to download something, and still oblivious, I do, thinking its a picture viewer. Turns out, its a trojan/AIM virus+ a few spywares. GREAT! So, I try to send her an email later (I didn't find anything wrong except for my profile was saying Merry Christmas, rather than what I told it to say, I figured I could fix it later) and my email is FOCKED out of control... great... so I quarantine the virus, delete it, delete the spyware and try to email her again today. Doesn't WORK! Says at the bottom "error on page" and doesn't go to the sent message screen. What's going on?

Bump: still not working, won't work to other recipients either... arg! I know you guys are probably like "whiny little punk... deal with it!" but gimme a break here, you have to agree that it is annoying to no end when your email doesn't work.

Viruses/spyware is the most annoying thing ever...unfortunately I cant help you since I usually just scream at the computer and flail my arms about. Then, I get someone that knows something about computers to fix it :)

you're in for an hour of fun.

Word to the wise: don't ever click on stupid **** in profiles. Seriously.

Here's how you fix it:

1. Download Zonealarm and install and start it up. This keeps people from attacking your computer and vice versa.

2. Run Windows Update. Download every single update and install.

3. Download Spybot 2.5. Install and run.

Wash. Rinse. Repeat. :)

I reformatted last time I got Bargain Buddy/ Common Name, that was quite the PITA. I used to have Zonealarm too, I'll see what I can do about that. I don't normally click on stuff in profiles, but like I said, this was my girlfriend, and it was something she'd do. I have Ad-Aware 6.0, but you have to buy a license for it. Is Spybot free? Where can I download it? It seems to work better, from what I've heard.
