Hey Guys,

I drive a 1990 240SX, Automatic. After driving like 10 miles, I accidentally removed the ash tray and touched the nut uner there. It seemed very hot.

Is this normal, I"Ve owned the car for a year, but I"ve never checked this. I did check the transmission oil, Its in there, its red as usual.

Should I be worried ? Waiting for you helpful comments.

it's normal. My manual transmission got so hot you could not touch the shifter (although I think that might have something to do with the golf ball sized wad of gear teeth I got out of it when I changed the transmission fluid...)

no the lighter was not being lit.

240_keyy, does ur transmission still get hot ? I mean the temperature was like in the 90's and my car was out in the sun... but I never expected the transmission to be like a frypan.

I am positive that it would if it were still in the car, I have since swapped in an SR and this transmission does not get hot.

The thing that helped me was that I changed the fluid and it got much cooler. Try that maybe?
