I am installing a H S cai on my '94 G20 what do I do with the small sensor (or whatever it is ) that screws into the old air filter box with 2 small Philips head screws? the wires connect to the same wire harness as the MAF. the car is on jacks now so any help would be appreciated.

That is the air temp sensor, it must be in the intake air path or somehow attached to the filter.

You want it cooled by the air flowing into engine..........even if it is hotter than normal by your choice of after market intakes.

Boy summer is the wrong time to try and improve upon the oem air box [traffic heat build up at idle under hood at low speeds].

Ignorance abounds. Be a known situation for 10 years at least on K&N Chrome ends Cone Filters.

I have the same setup on my G20T and no engine light, make sure you put that sensor back like Dennis said, do a search on resetting the ecu codes, its the same process for the Q as the G20, good luck.

That sensor isn't essential to the operation of the vehicle, it's something that was added with OBDII to further "help" the ECU monitor everything. What happened was the CAI was probably a different model year lowport.

I bought my CAI a LONG time ago and what I did was drill 3 holes into the upper hose, right after the MAF (that way if I ran a WAI setup I wouldn't have to unbolt the temp sensor), found a thick gasket to seal the intake (due to the curve) and bolted that gasket into the intake. I made sure the bolts were tight, double nuts, with loctite, just to make sure they never came lose and got injested into the motor....

I installed the sensor in the hose before the MAF I disconnected the battery for 24hrs. and all is fine CAI has a remarkable effect on hi-rev H.P. am going for a header next checked out HS and Stillen they seem about the same on dyno sheets Stillen is cheaper by over $100 any thoughts???

The Hotshot header makes a LOT more power. They've continued to change/modify their design over the past few years and Stillen really hasn't. There's quite a few really cool, inexpensive modifications for G20's. I've done pretty much everything to mine, so if you have any questions about any particular mods just let me know!

from all of my research on the web the HS seems to make most of its power at higher rpms the stillen comes in between 1000 to 500 rpms lower I guess it would depend on the type of driving you would be doing- drag racing vs. drifting- as to which you might choose I really don't plan on formal racing more of a street toy I guess what is the scoop on CAT backs
