I will be doing a s14 sr20 swap soon this coming spring. But I was still confused about where to flange the bov. Should it be placed on the hot pipe or on the cold pipe of the intercooler? Most of the pictures are on the hot pipe, but there were a couple on the cold pipe. I have heard that closer to the TB is better.

Closer to the TB is better. The reason most put it on their hotpipe is for two reasons. One is it's easier to recirculate the bov, second and probably the main reason is because it's louder.

You're not gonna notice a huge difference in performance.

Placement on the hot side will vent out more surge than placement on the cold side.

Placement on the cold side will yield better throttle response than placement on the hot side.

I have mine placed a foot away from the throttle body.
