June and July have been good months at work. I've got enough to have a little fun for a week or two so what would be better than driving some open topped friggen hot exotic car. Not to own, but to rent. My wife agrees that I can spend some of my "mad money" on such a dream so I'm on the Internet faster than Sean's on a croissant. I score, I find them, all of them. Dream cars galore, but wait, are those the rental rates or down payments?

Exotic CarsLamborghini Gallardo Spider.$1190..50.$1875..100..$2.25Ferrari F360 Spider............. $850...75...$1350..100..$1.95Ferrari F355 Spider............. $500...75...$750...100..$1.00Ferrari F348 Spider............. $375...75...$550...100..$1.00Dodge Viper GTS ................$270...75...$379...100..$0.50Dodge Viper RT/10..............$270...75...$379...100..$0.50Dodge Viper SRT/10............$395...75...$495...100..$1.00Porsche 996 Convertible..... $285...75...$389...100..$0.50Porsche Boxster................ $225...75...$249...100..$0.50 Sports Cars

Lotus Elise ..................................$230...100..$279..100..$0.50Chevrolet Corvette Convertible C6...$239...100..$289..100..$0.50Chevrolet Corvette Z06.................$225...100..$275..100..$0.50(I've eliminated the crappy lesser cars like BMWs from the list.)

The first column is for 6 hours,, yep, 6 hour rate. the second is the "free mileage" for those 6 hours. The third column is the 24 hour rate and the next the free miles for 24 hours. The final column is the per mileage charge if you exceed the free miles.

I said rent, not buy. Scratch those monsters. I'll just have to suck at life a little longer. A spider for $850 for 6 hours, hardly gives you time to pick up some young lady and, well you know.... A Viper for $379, is not much better. That's still over a dollar a minute.

Vette vert, 289 a day. Cool that's more like it. But I want it for a week, not a day. Weekly rentals suck, it's well over a grand with no break. No Vette for Bob from them.

I call Avis, they're pretty cool. Yep, they've got a Vette, in San Diego, and it's 300 a day, or I think he said $1500 a week, but it doesn't matter, because that one they said they had, well they don't, besides it wasn't a vert. Looks like the mgr. is driving a vette this week. I swear if they had it, and they would rent it for a grand for the week, I't satisfy that childish urge deep in me to flash some class. I'd be writing about how cool a C6 Vette is, all 435 HP of it.

Okay, what else let's the top drop and is cool. Ah, my one and only Mustang. Yep, and they've got a nice silver one with 4500 miles, and it's .....$260 for the week, unlimited miles. Sign me up there Fred, I'm driving a Mustang again, at least the top drops.

It's sunny summer here in SD county. The beaches were packed, the tide was high so the surf sucked, but I got my first sunburn of the summer today. Driving my 45th. Aniversary Must vert.

Tomorrow, I may make the same trip with my camera - and I'll post some of the better beach scenery, including some shots of the scenery and even a few for you guys who are into "shaved grannies"

Or, maybe I'll check and see if the Vette is back...and If they'll work me a sweet deal for the rest of the week... Ya never know.

How the hell is a 45th anniversary Mustang Vert sportier than your G?

Those prices are crazy btw.

If you don't mind me opining on your decision...I'd much rather mod my G than spend money on renting a "fast" car.

Honestly, if the woman in your area think a convertible Mustang is nicer than an 08 G35 then I'd just stay away from them all together, they obviously have no taste.

Seriously though, a Mustang around here is like underwear, and an 08 G35 is better than gin at removing panties...

For that price, I would rather have spent it on my car and enjoyed it for many summers to come.

I think he just wanted something different. If he can afford a g35 he could have had a mustang. Plus he probably just want to play with a convertible... and that isn't available yet on a g.

You Rented a FURD????

Driving a Ford in CA would be like driving a JohnDeere to the Walmart here in tampa!

You should have added an exhost or something like that on your G!

Well at least you can send it back bare back tires!

I see that none of you guys understand the fine art of SoCal beach cruising. Rule #1. Cruising the beach in your G is like kissing your sister. nuff said.Rule #2. Car must be a vert. If it isn't a vert you ain't cruising.Rule #3. Speeds over 25mph are insanely fast, way too fast to enjoy the cruise. Rule #4. T shirt, cut offs and barefoot. T shirt must not have any writing on it, colors okay. (you're on vacation dude) Rule #5. If it ain't tan, don't show it in the daylight.Rule #6. Don't put a surfboard in, on or near your car if you don't surf. They'll know you're a poser and PALATR.

Now, you know the rules, so tomorrow I'll photo document a proper beach cruise, in a Mustang vert, for all you flatlanders.

I'll try to find some hot shaved grannies for you Sean.

I'm not a beach person. Nor am I a cruiser. I guess I'm just not old enough.

That is double gay Bob. Not just a Mustang, but it's a much lesser car than the G.

Should have gotten a PT Cruiser "Woody". That would be much more fitting for cruising CA beaches.

ehh, not really. Being gay, a Californian, and a cruiser does not mean you abide by these rules. I should know, I'm all of the above. Maybe it's diff. in Southern CA, but Mustangs aren't the greatest cruise vehicle imo, but to each his/her own. If you had fun, the money was well spent I say.

I tried to get a vette vert but failed. Life does in fact suck some time. But for all you naysayers, you'll just have to wait. It's about 3 hours until the marine layer burns off and the beautiful, sparkling water and ivory sand become home to...California wildlife.

Actually, I'm sunburned from yesterday. All that warm sunshine shining down on me, the smell of the fresh ocean breeze, the sound of the surf breaking on the shore... It's only possible in a vert, a 2009 Mustang (without cruise control, sat radio, electric seats, or the coveted "ooh gah" horn the guys in the northwest put on their Gs.)

Im just going to get the JonhDeere out and go for a cruise down A1A.... I bet I can get more looks on that thing than you can in a Lambo!

I know because when I drive it to get Dissel from the BP, I get everyone looking!

I think they are really like "look at this jacka$$ driving a Tractor down the road!" or "what a Nut... Doesn't he know he can't drive it on the road"

LoL but any how! Make sure you take that $hitstang back with bauld rear tires!
