Anyone experience your Hot engine light coming on when travelling in 6th gear and going over 70 but then turning off as soon as you drop down to a lower speed? Took into dealer and they said that nothing registered on the computer and that it was probably an air bubble in the radiator. They jacked it up and reported to get the air out but when my wife drove the car again on the interstate the light came back on for a few minutes. This happened three times on a three hour drive. Any suggestions? The problem is, I cannot get the light to turn on long enough so the mechanic can see it. Thanks

Supposedly, synthetic oil is better at dispersing heat and better resists thermal miscombobulations. After warranty ran out in old sentra, I switched to DIY synth every 10000km. Always bought cheapest synth i could get. Had absolutely zero mechanical engine problems with car when i sold it with 313000km on it. I did drive it rather enthusiastically. :nono:  I will switch this V to synth at 100000km when warranty expires [prob by Christmas].
Give a try to see if synth is for you.

how many miles are on the car? I run a 4-spd auto in jackson, MS (which has the trans cooler through the radiator) and I've never gotten the heat light on (yet). If you have a higher mileage on the car, it may be time to chnage the fluid. Just a thought...

The temp sensor is only for water temp, shouldn't have anything to do with the transmission, that is a weird issue. I never had that problem.

It has 58k miles and is a 2007 Versa S manual transmission. Anyone have issues with the hot engine light?

No issues yet, but stupid common sense questions. Have you topped/checked out the radiator and coolant reservoir for fluid level? Any coolant leaks? Fan turning on correctly?

Could maybe be a bad sensor or something.

Perhaps the thermostat is starting to go or a bad sensor as mentioned then.
