So its starting to warm back up here in Texas.

I have a Z1 short throw installed with a TWM M1 abrams solid metal shift knob. The rubber boots don't fit around the Z1 short throw housing so theyre sorta resting around it, so I imagine thats letting some heat in. Also the solid metal knob. But hot damn, if I hold onto the short throw shaft just below the shifter boot that crap is dear near finger burning levels.

Is it normal for our center console to get that hot? Considering the dust boots aren't hugging that lip around the hole the shifter sits in and my metal knob...

Depending upon whether or not you still have your factory exhaust, it COULD be the cats. My NA used to get scorching hot around the shifter and trans tunnel just behind that point, until after I got a new exhaust system and the heat went away, nearly completely.
