Hi Folks, I am Steve Bilyue, living in Florida, tooling metal, leather, air conditioning and whatever the Lord sends to reveal the ways of ministering approval; but just now I am in a fight with an Intake Manifold (IM) and a hose is giving me a fit. Seeking by-pass, I found you all; and I just had a mechanic friend call with a suggestion. Two nipples face starboard the vehicle, separated top & bottom about 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 inches, with a loop of hose say at that diameter; so it is short. Everything else is disconnected to remove the IM. Upon reaching the only direction from driver side horizontal, the space is so small for this hand, and the EGR connection to the IM directly in the way to get the straight on shot, I proceeded to break a mounted plastic fitting on the firewall; and could not get an angle to release & move the hose clamp on the approximate 5/16 inch hose in start of its removal. The suggestion my friend gave to me is to use a screw driver on the squeezable hose clamp on one prong side & push it in the loosening direction to a more accessible position. I am going to try that before I decide just to cut the hose. Any other suggestion I ask of you in appreciation.
