ok so i have been searching a little on here today and saw that some people have been using the horsham chips and it sounds like i nice little add. the mods on my motor are just fmic, boost controller, 3" exhaust, walbro and s14 t28 so i was thinking about doing the stage 2 chip but im not sure about the install process. i know its prob a stupid question but if i buy the chip where do i go or how do i install it? also do you guys think the chip is actually a good help or would i be wasting money

First of all, w/the exception of MAFS and injectors, you've got everything for a stage 3 chip. Why not step up to that?

Secondly, the work that needs done to the ECU is VERY basic. Ideally you find a ZIF socket, de-soldier the original chip, soldier in the ZIF socket, and drop the new chip in. ZIF sockets can be hard to find though, so you can also use a regular socket. I don't remember how many pins you need off the top of my head since It's been a while since I messed with any of that.

If you can't do the work yourself, see if you can find an electronics repair shop in your area. They should be able to do it in 10 min or less and it won't cost you much. Plus they might also have the socket in stock as well.

with the stage 3 chip do i have to use only 444cc injectors like it says or have other people used like 450s or 550s and been ok cause the 444s are kinda more than i want to spend from what i have seen thanks for the help btw

You need to use 444cc injectors for the horsham stage 3 chip. The tuner (horsham) modifies the K multiplier to accommodate the larger injectors. The K value in the Chip modifies the fuel map with respect to the computer's target AFR.

If you put 450 or 550's in where the tune is looking for 444's, everything will run rich...

450's will run just fine on a 444 tune, it's not an exact science. Quite honestly I'd be willing to bet at least one of every four 444cc injectors flow tested actually flows around 450cc. I had a set of 560cc EVO 9 injectors sent to Deatschwerks and one flowed over 570cc.

Yea, 450's are fine for that chip. The 550's will be to big though.

Snatch up a set of 440's out of an n/a fc at a junkyard. the primary 2 and the secondary 2 are 440cc/min

Fair enough, it'll work and be accurate enough...

I struggled to get my 450cc's to idle (i now know it was that my intake was too short) however I had tried to get my k-value, injector latency and injector latency voltage changed and tuned perfectly.

The DSM 450cc's though only 6cc's (theoretical flow rate) more are slightly different animals compared to the 444's... (looks like you're better off with 450cc's than 440cc's on the Hosram 444cc tune)

When looking at Nistune as an ECU solution, you use the boards realtime editor to fine-tune the K-Value and latency so the car idles at 14.7 then 14.7 through part of the rpm range. I figure, Hosram spent time on the dyno tuning the injectors to predictably react well and idle fine...
