I got a 90 s13 with the ka24e only mods are cold air intake and header back exhaust. One day the car randomly had a horrible idle on start up. The car kinda sounds like a v8 because of the horrible idle popping. I replaced the plugs wires and cap. But nothing. Car seems to run the same with the 4th cylinder plug wire on or off. Its getting spark. Kinda weak tho. I also did a compression check and results were 36 on 4th. 47 on 3rd. 90 on 2nd. And couldnt catch the threads to check 1st. The tester was pretty new so it was, working fine. Hows the car even running that low?

Could it be a headgasket? Bad or clogged injectors?

Yes I am new to the forum so tell me if im posting this in the wrong, spot. Any help is thanked.

Could be headgasket or bent/burnt valves. I would do a leakdown test to pinpoint the problem. What does the coolant look/smell like. Hook a vac gauge up to it and see how much vacuum you have.

Headgasket or could be worn out rings too.

theres no blow by. Wouldnt it be blowing out white smoke? And to the bent valve... Wouldnt I hear that. Or atleast a diff pop sound in either intake or exhaust depending on valve

Could be timing, but with that low of compression numbers there is something not sealing inside the motor, Rings/valves/HG/cracked piston. What do the plugs look like? And do a leakdown test! Clogged injector will give you problems, but it wont drop compression that low. Your cylinders are very low on compression, did you over-rev the car?

I just ordered new injectors for the hell of it. When they come in ill do the leakdown test. And I didnt over rev it. It has a rev limiter. And to the off timing. Timing is fine. At tdc the rotor is at cylinder 1 in the dis cap. Plugs just looked burnt

That doesnt sound good. You have some internal engine problem. It just started doing this out of nowhere? Also sounds like a vac leak when you first went to the engine bay in the video. Spray carb cleaner around and see if theres any leaks. Do you have a timing light? But like I said earlier low compression numbers like that are not good. Did the chain jump timing?

Yea just one day I started it up and it sounded like s***. Spray carb cleaner where? And when cylinder one is TDC the rotor in the distributor. So timing seems fine.. I might just buy a ka24de for 200 that I just found.

Spray carb cleaner to find the leaks, shoot it around the intake manifold and vac lines, you notice a change in the idle if you have any, but your problem sounds worse that a vac leak. Like I said the only way to pinpoint it is to leakdown test it. FWIW never assume anything is fine until you verified it ;) . Might be better off with the other engine.

Im bought a full headgasket kit. Headbolts. New injectors. Timing kit. And having the motor flushed. Parts cost around$ 140. Having the work done saturday for 325. Good deal?
