so i installed a viper alarm a year ago but really only wanted the keyless entry. today i went to wire up the parking lights and horn cause i finally got too annoyed at not knowing if i locked my car or not. parking light was easy, but when i could not get the horn wire right.

i removed the panels and found a harness with a grey plug that has a pink wire. Spliced into that, didn't work. Found another pink wire close-by, spliced, no good. Both are negative, so there shouldn't be any need for a relay. Any help?

Well there is a horn relay directly in front of the battery. Service manual labels it H-1... Should just be able to splice in there and activate that relay.

Pin 45 of the E46 wire harness on the IPDM E/R goes to pin 1 on the H-1 relay. That wire should activate the horn. Pages BL-54 and BL-72 (just in case ya wanted to know)

Hope that helps you.

again thank you so very much for the contribution but i have already referred to that chart.....i located a pink wire that directly affects the horn, so im debating whether whoever wrote up the chart got the polarity wrong? in which case i will have to use a relay =(.
